You have to admire a creature who demands respect from something thats like 30 times its size, those are some cool fish.:headbang2

Too true.

In my personal experience, it's angelfish that tend to be nippers. Whenever I stick my arm in my 55 gallon I get bit. It's not painful, but not exactly comfortable ;)

Figure this one....my JD runs and hides, my Oscar comes for scratchies, and my blasted BLOOD RED PARROTS (all THREE of them) RIP all the hair off of my arms every time I gravel vac!
Good damn thing that they can't close their mouths or I'd be screwed!

BTW, it HURTS!!!!

i also ben bit by my silver aro i was doing tank maintenance and my aro jumped out and took a hold of my nuckle and ripped away. i had some niffty scabs after that

worst bit I ever took was either a 10ft red tail boa tagging me in the face or a 4ft caimen snatching my hand. Both jacked me up really good and hurt like hell. Also just so you know getting bit by a blue tongue skink is like getting your finger slammed in a car door. I got away from reptiles so I didn't have to worry about getting bit but looks like fish are no better. Oh well they are still fun and relaxing...

I was just rereading this thread when it struck me,
Piranha and pacu are also characins.
The red belly pacu has been widely introduced as a pond cultured food fish in tropical areas and in New guinea where it is common to work naked when using nets in pond two people have died by having their genitalia bitten off by large pacu, ouch.

Well, in the wild they do eat nuts.
