What did you use to catch the gar, lure or bait?

I caugh the gar on a 10 inch fresh dead ladyfish.

Man, what a honeymoon! lol Most women wouldn't take a fishing trip for a honeymoon! Your lucky! :lol:

Those are some sweet looking Brookies! Also, some great smallmouth action! Whatcha catch the smallies on?

I caught them on a suspending broke back rapala (baby bass color). Most were caught along a drop off from 7ft to 24ft. Most strike came when I caugth the top of a weed bed, then pulled the lure free.

Ladyfish?

Ladyfish are SW fish. I guess you can say they are like smaller longer tube shaped tarpon. Fun to catch on light tackle and make great shark bait as they are bloody and oily. Everytime I go to florida and the ladies are running the surf I can catch them all day long on my flyrod and its a fight with LOTS of jumps!

I caught the gar in a salt marsh, where I catch redfish, spotted sea trout, flounder, etc...
I have also caught ladyfish where I catch bass, flatheads, and crappie.

Dredcon, how far away from P'cola are you? Weve had east coast and west coast MFK meets so we need a down south meet! We can go fishing and catch some real monsters for all these city slickers on this board!
