You forgot to mention that Equador did so in Quito, a full 9,000 feet above sea level. Higher than Denver. Try telling me thats not an incredible advantage. Really, the bookings prevented the Dutch from gaining any momentum? How about when they were up 11 players versus 10. Or 10 players vs. 9. They certainly had no marked advantage in those cases. Or when Portugal removed Pauleta our only striker halfway through the game to place a man in Costinhas position. The Dutch isnt a class team? Many people werent predicting them to reach the finals or atleast as a candidate for the finals?

How am I celebrating already Dave? I never stated Equador was a 3rd world country. There are people on here trying their best to remove the merit that Portugal deserves for defeating a good Dutch squad, which is what you were doing by alluding to the unfortunate situation with the cards, and then stating that the win was nothing to be proud of. Did you read the article? It's not my fault, nor the Portuguese national teams fault that they were given a card happy referee. Are the english people here not predicting a win for England? WHy can't I do the same for Portugal? This seems to be a one sided attack at me because I don't sport a boner for England.
