Hey guys, I just got back from the LFS and they had a Purle Queen Cichlid for 50 bucks. Has anyone ever heard of them or kept them befor. THey told me that it was rare and said it was the only one they have gotton since they opened the store. Just need some info on the fish if possible. I would really like to have it. THanks

They are more commonly known as Rose Queens. I have two with the largest at about 11". There is one posted someplace on here that was 15". I think they are really attractive. Supposed to be pretty aggressive but the two I have have been not bad in temperment. Actually RQ's have been throw aways historically coming out of the Orient where broods consisted of Blood Red Parrots, RQ's, KK Parrots, and Mammons.

How big is the fish? $50 may be an excellent price. A lot of them have some degree of dying but it doesn't bother me--they will get somewhat of an uneven color scheme.

Nice intense red.

It is about 8 " I just called them and there going to hold it for me while I go to get it. thanks for the info.

Oh, one more question. Can a RQ live with the pH at 7.8. thats what mine is and its been that way since I set up the tank. It is satble at 7.8 THanks gatta go.

One last question can it live with a 6" JD in a 55 gallon. sorry if I'm being annoying, just can't find the info any where else. This is the last question I have, Promise

I wouldn't recomend it, but it's a trial and error thing when it comes to compatibility.

Cichlids are very unpredictable... chances are, it will not work.

Both of these fish are territorial and aggressive in nature.

I think a one on one with a JD in a 55 is a real risk. When I said their temperment wasn't bad I was talking about in with a lot of similar sized fish in a pretty big environment.

It's still a great buy in my book. By the way, I don't know this for an absolute fact but I think almost all the males are sterile, just like parrots, if you are thinking about breeding.

never heard of that
is that a parrot cichlid mixed with something?
is there any pics of that kind of fish?
