:woot::mwave:I have a Red Tail:mwave::woot:

Its a male, 53" and tomorrow Im gonna ask his age again, cause I forgot.
Hes very skinny, but already ate a small rat:

Now Ive got two snakes, a Green Anaconda is comming soon.
My Burmese and this Boa are both males, kinda in doubt whether I should
get a female or a male Anaconda.
In the mean time Im gonna fatten up a Boa.

I know about wildcaught and regurgitating problems, but if I feed small rats, can I
feed him two rats every six days, or rather one small rat every four days?

At 53 inches, a boa can easily eat large rats without issue. Snakes are designed for larger meals.

I am assuming that it is only a small part of the enclosure or a temporary one for feeding or transport or something.

anyways, large rats are fine for it now, it looks a bit skinny for being 4 and a half feet so fatten it up a bit.

Is it just me, or does that snake look extremely cramped in that enclosure?

Cmon guys, Im Dutch, we know how to take care of our animals.
Jeez. Wheres the trust?

For a pic and comparability I placed him next to a drinking bowl. OK?
So It would be obvious hes too skinny.
Hereby everyone visiting Holland is invited to come and see my animals.

But eh.. I thought wildcaught Boas could regurgitate their meal if too big,
so
therefor my question.
But this morning Im being watched by a couple of hungry eyes (Python too),
so Im almost off to the ratstore. Ah, lol!
And to get bigger rats, indeed.
Thnx for the help.

I have to say these are the same reactions as I got when only visiting Dutch fora, so
Im bit in doubt if I should share my Herps again. Im here for the information we all share.
I hate envy.
I really hate envy.

They were just looking out for the best interest of your animals is all, If I had not seen how nice you keep your frogs and fish, I would have been worried too. As far as the wild ones regurging, I have never heard of that but I suppose it could be true. Just try it and let us know what happens, If it does regurgitate then cut back to mediums. There is always a little guess work with getting the right size feeders for a snake like this.

Thenx for the info.
I went to my LRS today.
Found out my Boa is about three years old. And got some good advice.
I'll feed him a rat a week, and my Python a smaller rat every ten days.
Should be OK in no time.

He allready ate a small rat yesterday, and is real docile.
Just watched Bear Grylls hit a big Boa to dead. :irked:

Breeding with Anacondas.. no I dont see that happen.
BUT, Im still little bit more impressed by a female..
Ah I dont know, doesnt matter, I'll choose on first sight, and because theyre
young, I wont see the gender that well, so I'll be surprised.
Dont think its that Yin Yang to have three big male snakes, though..

Annie is comming for sure, in the mean time I took a female and a male
Four Toed Tortoises (Testudo Horsfeldii) home.
When they grow up, they'll have their enclosure outside.
For now they are burroughing in my livingroom.:nilly:
I hope they DO sleep at night..
