a buddy of mine just bought a 55 and wants a JD and he wants to know what would be the best type of substrate and what color would bring out the coloring of a JD also how deep should it be?

thanks,
Louie

Black or dark is generally the best color substrate and background for your fish if you want it to have deep dark coloring.

Yep. Definately need a dark substrate for a dempsey so that it doesn't wash out the dempsey. Something with a small pebble size, they kind of like to dig and move sediment now and then...not like a midas or a jag, but still seem to enjoy it.
