I used flexable hose and a regular clamp but im thinking of going to pvc and getting a powerhead that is threaded and putting the filter behind the aquarium. And oh yeah its got lava rocks in it but you can use any kind of material you want bio balls or anything it just cheaper and chemical filtration too.

The other powerhead is connected the same way but one is pushing the water in and one is reversed pulling water out you could use one powerful powerhead or exteranal pump. You could use an overflow or a drilled tank bulkhead but they where exspensive so i imprevised.

Not planning on it.It would kill the bacteria and micro organisams living in it theres living sand in the tank im planning on it spreading to the filter. But you can buy an adapter that you can twist the pvc apart or maybey spay it out.
