Im probably getting a jaguar cichlid and was wondering what the tank size is with other fish. How much should you feed them?

Jags can get really big......I had one that was roughly 14-16 inches as a full grown male. Like most cichlids they range in temperament....mine was semi peaceful with small flowerhorns in a 180 gallon....but some times he would get nasty and start chasing and biting everyone....for jags a permanent home i would say nothing smaller then a 125 with a tank mate or two....any more tank mates then that and you HAVE to go bigger....

Would it be ok with an oscar and silver datnoid in a 125?

onyl way to no is if u try it and find out. They can be mean they can be gentle. If your other fishys make it made he does have the bigger teth. They max some where around 16 to 18 inchs. a 125 u would be fine. If he shows alot of agression gets some comvicts as dither fish to keep him oopcupied.

As far as diet, I feed mine Hikari bio gold plus and krill once a week. I would like to have them on a couple pellets and the krill. They are carnivores so keep that in mind. Tank size has already been answered as full grown adults I would say a 125, if you want more fish then a larger tank would be best. I have never seen one larger then 16 in.

How long could one last in a 75 gallon?

If its the only fish in tank then at least a year maybe two in 75. the largest ive ever had in a 75 was 12", but i feel bad about large fish bein stuck in small tanks so i always try to give them as much room as i can:) and a good daily diet of pellets and occaisional frozen is just fine. if you go the other way and start with live and tons of frozen then you'll have fun trying to get them back on dry food;) lol

The last Jag I had was on the mild side for temperament he ate every kind of food I put in except alga wafers. I had to throw them in by the handful though to get any past the pacus to the bottom dwellers. The big pacus ate them like candy and the crunching sound was a bit unnerving.
