My MONSTER pond

Ken where do u get those fish. I'd like some for my pond. And how has their growth rate been

Thanks Neil. But you're wrong, I don't get most my fish from Wes. I get ALL my fish from Wes. haha

I believe Wes still has them available but he may have already exported them to Asia.
My pond is stocked with cold water fish only.
(2) Spinibarbus (phoenix barb)
(10) Neolissocheilus Hexagonelepis (mahseer)
(10) Jerdoni
Soon to join the pond (50) mixed mahseers...putitora, mussullah, morsal.

These guys are eating machines so growth rate is pretty rapid. My grow outs went from 1" to 4" in two months. I keep 50 of them in a 55gal with high flow. The Neo Hex (nice scaled ones in the photo) was put in the pond 6 months ago at 4" and now they are over 10". I think I lucked out because one appears blue which makes it a Neo Stracheyi.

There isn't much info on how to keep them but based on their natural environment in India I keep the flow very high. Also feed a high wheatgerm diet because of the nuts they eat in the wild. The algae helps a lot. They also ate the frozen tilapia I fed the bambusa. Unfornately I'm sure the Neo Hex ate my three bambusa.
 
You always amaze me! :drool: Keep us updated! :) BTW, only you and Wes are persons I know that still have Phoenix barb. Wes didn't want to sell his two, the last time I begged him :nilly:
 
Stunning Ken! I love the green algae background against the monster scalled masheers. Pond will look way cool by the end of summer. Do you plan on adding any filtration?

Thanks gangster. I think I'm going to stick the current old world system. Yes, it's an old Japanese style system but is ideal for mahseers.

Thanks. Fun you ask because if you check my old thread I was trying to dump two of them but no takers on MFK. Ended up getting rid of one on Craigslist and installing this one. Had them for five years but could not sell them as a koi dealer and now they're gone everyone wants one.

where do i find this pond for sale at? Do they make any larger models?
