Eheim 2260 - turning pump 90 degrees. Help !

Is there a trick to it ? I just cannot slide the pump off the base plate at all. I've even got a hammer to it and it won't budge. Theoretically you can mount the pump onto the base plate in one of three positions, so I know it can be done, but the Eheim manual is no help (no surprise there !)
It won't fit in my cabinet without turning the pump so I do have a problem.

Can anyone help.

You need to gently tap the base plate toward the rear of the pump. I found it easiest to do by setting the pump, base plate UP, on a folded towel and tapping the edge of the base plate with a small hammer.

In order to get the cord to clear the 'tab' on the plate, I just snapped it off. It didn't affect mounting the plate to the pump at all.

I was sure it looked like it should be towards the fromt of the pump. I've got it all set up and running now, with the canister outside my cabinet. I'll take it apart and try it towards the rear of the pump now !

Successfully done now !

The base plate does, in fact, come off towards the front (the inflow/outflow end) of the pump. I just needed a bit more confidence to hit with the hammer a bit harder as it is wedged on pretty tight.

I have to say that this filter is very sensitive to outflow hose position in that it makes a real vibratory noise if it is not positioned "just right". I also seem to need a large rock on the top of the filter to damp down vibrations. A bit disappointed wth this but otherwise it does all I'm asking of it ....... huge capacity and oustanding flow rate.

Alan, I am so sorry I explained that incorrectly. I should have gotten up and looked at my spare pump. OOPS!

Regarding the vibration, check that the hoses are not contacting the stand, tank or other hard objects as this amplifies the sound. You can also slightly loosen the pump-to-plate mounting screws and see if this helps.

The hoses are not touching anything that is causing vibration to resonate. I'll have a go at looosening those screws a bit when I get around to it. I'm actually very happy with the way it's all set up now. Noise levels are very accaptable too now, with the rock and all ! One of my three 2217's also needs a stone on top to stop vibration resonance noise.
