Which tanks dimensions are better?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say the 60x30x30 just because 30 width is gonna be nice..

but ya it ALL depends on what your stocking

I don't se very many scenarios where the stocking would favor the 8 footer. The 6x30x30 will be a better looking tank with the added height and depth. Of coarse there will be those that whine about how much harder it is to work on a 30" tall tank :screwy:

96x24 has more surface area for gas exchange which is better but if you are stocking something like Altums go with the taller tank.

If the tank was saltwater I'd say the 96" just because it is shorter and easier to light (anyone who grows corals will get my drift...) but I'm assuming your going freshwater in which case it would depend completely on your stock. Oh, and a 30" tall tank is more difficult to clean (that is the size on my 187 gallon). With the longer tank you could do quite the fantastic CA/SA cichlid display...

So your stating that you can't get a light that will effectively grow corals in a 30" tall tank? How is 6" less easier to light, can't you just buy a light that has a higher output? What is hard about that?
