Is this a Jaguar Dovii hybrid?

Your right. What the heck do I know about Managuense.....

Yeah Mo jeez quit being such a noob!

Just asking, how many of you making the claims about managuense have gone and collected them in the wild? Because Mo has... Just saying, if you really are going to argue against the ID, at least give more than a couple mispelled sentences explaining why.

IMO, this is a close match. Has bluish tinge on the fins, though not as much as the fish in question.....but of course lighting, as well as individual variability and age of the fish can be significant factors sometimes for coloration.
Of course not all motas are 'red tigers'. There are many different regional populations. And different populations do have different potential sizes. A 14" mota is larger then average thiough not really extraordinary. But there is no tape measure beside the fish, so who knows exactly how large the fish is.

When a fish does not possess the spot at the base of the pectorial fin, I would always question whether the fish is a jaguar. Not an iron clad law of course (mood/state/age will always provide exceptions) but definately a reason to question. Like a mota, the fish in question exhibits a black marking behind and above the pectorial fin, and so does the fish in this link.

I still say its either a honduran managuense that has more color in its fins than any of aquamojos fins which amazes me or its a hybrid with jag and dovii and maybe mota which I dont see at. I just havemt seen a parachromis with only blue fins other than dovii and the head just looks managuense and that I have experience with a hybrid with this color scheme. again great fish but the blue is just too blue to managuense or mota.

the blue on other parachromis fins other that dovii is more lile a sheen along the edges where this fishs fins are just completely blue and there no reds or oranges to suggest mota. I dont see how a guy keeping this fish in a tank thats too small and feeding it goldfish would posess more colors in its fins than aquamojos managuense which show the blue as more a sheen captured in the right light. this fishs fins are blue to the spine and the only parachromis with that is dovii
