I am overstocked What about you ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's going to be slow right now with the WTD (White Thread of Death) issue.

hahah very true and very irritating.
im so overstocked that its actually embarassing. not as bad as some people but still scary lol. its not that i have big fish in a small tank, its that i have so many small fish in my tank.

My growout is very overstocked right now. It currently has 10 florida gars ranging from 4-8", 3 spotted raphael catfish around 3-4", 2 four inch datnoids (silver and indo), 1 m. uranoscopus that is 3", and 1 zamora woodcat that is 3". All this in a 20 gallon long. 50% daily water change. Gars are going to be moved to larger tanks pretty shortly once they aren't in danger of being eaten. Might be selling the dats as well.

40g breeder, 65 peacock bass 4-5 inches :O Filter = FX5, AC110, AC70

Pictures or it didn't happen

Yes i am OVERSTOCKED
9- asian Arowana 8 to 14 inches
1-silver arowana 16 inches
5- Dat 8 to 12 inches
1- TSN 10 inches
1- nutant silver dollar 7 inches
1- poly 10 inches
1-FTR 1.3kg 12 inches
2-FTR 5 inches
Last but not least 6 inches MBU puffer :)

all that in a 500g tank. my water is almost good -> ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 40ppm. The only way i get to have under 50ppm of nitrate is by doing 2x 30% water change a week
In time i think i will get rid of 3 Dats, the mutant silver dollar and the Poly ( before the TSN eats him)

ANY BODY ELSE OVERSTOCKED ?
please tell me what you have and how you keep it clean

I guess it will all depend on the demensions of that tank. And what your filtration is I would say it will pushing the limits of being able to control water quility when all those arows are 3 footers. Get a huge sump full of bio max and filter socks with a inline u.v and you should be all set i deffenitly wouldnt put any more fish it it. I personaully like to keep tanks with single specimen show fish, or pairs or trio's or what ever. I never have had a seriously over stocked tank it not what i like. But you deffenitly have a tank big enough to shove tons of cool fish in there like you have. Should deffenitly post the pics of the tank, stock, and filtration for a better understanding but if you are having problems with nitrates now. that problem isnt going any were sence those areas are all getting way bigger then they are. U said you might get rid of the dats why. I would keep the arows, dats, and ray and get rid of every thing else. You should invest in a small size beed filter with a inline u.v on the return and your paramiters will be golden not matter what or size is in there.
