Okay, I'm considering removing all the decorations in my tank and just doing plain old substrate and nothing else. Few reasons why.

The driftwood constantly falls over from the bigger fish bumping into it and it also has like a algae mossiness sort of stuff growing on it that I don't like the looks of.

The plants, while I like the way they look, they are constantly dirty with a brownness and are a pain to constantly remove and rinse, plus when they spread out or down too far they tend to start looking not as good as the original way you positioned them.

The big rocks, I think they look real good but they seem to take up a lot of room and I'm honestly starting to think my fish might even appreciate just having the center nice and open for them to swim, specially since they're getting bigger every day.

The rock piles, I'm considering maybe even leaving those and nothing else but I definitely want to remove the one from the front right. Not only do the rocks shift and fall down and end up leaning against the front of the tank, fish waste/feces gets stuck in between all the rocks and is a real pain to vacuum out.

Just looking for opinions guys. Do you think the fish will care at all? Maybe enjoy the free space even more? Think the tank will still look good? Not as good? It'll definitely make maintenance easier. What would you do if it were your decision?

Alright, but this driftwood definitely wouldn't look right by itself in here. So what's your opinion? You'd remove the decorations then?

I'm in the same boat. In my 125 today I took out a few big rocks and both my plants. Now all I have is a center stump like piece of driftwood. I have 2 FL gars and a silver aro in it. I thought it would look stupid, but it really doesn't. It's kind of bare, but I like it simple. It gives them a lot more room and now I can blow the waste down to one side. I have been debating about going further and going barebottom.

And just realized I didn't answer your question. I think your tank would look great simplified. I'm taking out the rest of my wood too because of the ugly white mossy stuff that consistently grows on it.

i got my brother to go barebottom in his tank and it doesnt look to bad

Alright cool. Thanks for the opinions guys. So far I'm leaning on removing all the decorations tomorrow when I do a water change. Still contemplating leaving the two rock piles though. Thoughts? Also, cullens89 I definitely don't want to bare bottom my tank. I'm just talking about removing the decorations and just doing black back and sand bottom.

Ide say keep it simple and i think the drift wood in the center looks good because.my.light shines right on it this is my 30 long I was telling you about

With the right color light i think that it would look really good, like a bright daytime light. When i have put barebottom on my tanks ive found that the brighter light the better it looks. Good luck:)

I would leave the smaller boulder and a few rocks for now and see how it looks. You can put the boulder on the side and the rocks around it.
