My Red devil. Her name is Dormy and she has killed an oscar (which are pansies :D if not adorable), some kind of catfish, 2 crayfish, an angelfish, and maimed my green terror (at which case I moved her to a separate tank)

I have kept cichlids and managed to comm them peacfully until I got a dovii. It was peaceful at first with the community which include jaguar, fenestratus, snakehead, red devil, cuban and umbee. It started to kill fellow fish when it reached 7", total fatalities 6. It is now separated and live in a lone tank.

Well, its not a Cichlid, but my Black Shark is the most agressive fish Ive ever had and its not even close. As far as cichlids go, pound for pound the melanochromis auratus probably takes the cake. My Red Devil is pretty agressive too.

I agree with M. auratus, that's one nasty fish. The Amphilophus sp. (Centrinellus, Labiatus, Zaliosus...etc) are very aggressive when compared to other CA/SA sp. and seem to be getting plenty of votes here, but one shouldn't over-estimate their aggression. I learned that lesson the hard way, years back, when my beautiful 8" Midas was killed by my 4" paradisefish (in less than 24 hours).

I shouldn't have listened to the advise of other ppl who kept Midas' cichlids, and told me they were aggressive enough to hold their own :wall:.

most aggressive cichlid I've ever dealt with was a red devil that just got way too big way too fast. in about 3-4 months he went from being about 2-3" to about 8-9" and it killed my firemouth and nearly killed my texas, jack dempsey, pink convict, cuban, and jaguar cichlids O.O

My female Red terror slamed my girlfriends finger against a rock and broke it... she then broke up with me. Damn fish... oh who am i kidding i love that gorgeous thing and it loves me... but not my ex

I have a 6 inch male Convict, with orange on its belly and blue on its fins, beautiful convict, mean as ****. It ripped the eyes out of a 12 inch oscar in 10 minutes after the lights went off, I knew because I heard a large splash and wham, there was my oscar dead as a door knob.

The most agressive cichlid I've ever seen was a ~28 inch Dovii, this MFK guy has videos of it all over youtube, and the thing is just nasty.
