so I heared "im doing it all wrong" can we say OVERSTOCKED!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I did not read your whole post, but it does sound that you have "DENTIST" fish...............Dentist fish are small schoolin' fish that belong in a Dentist waiting room...........If you are new to the Monter Fish hobby, I would have to suggest empyting our your aquarium's life.............Then, get a breeding pair of Convict Cichlids..................The juvenile size of this fish cost between $1 and $5..............The females have orange to red blotches on their bellies............These fish will breed within two weeks of being setup and comfortable in their new homes.............Why buy the Convict Cichlid, because this species is the basic building block of all Central and South American cichlids...........This fish has all the attitude of the big gunners, the same breeding concept of all the larger cichlids, the same basic diet of all the big cichlids, and the same care requirements of all the American cichlids..............

Well, I don't have much to add except to act quick. Do not just wait around as it will make it that much worse for the fish. Take them back and start over with a couple smaller cichlids. Sorry, but it needs to happen. Thank you.

if i were you i would return the fish you have to your local lfs or find people who can house and care for these fish properly! i would start from scratch! do your research before you buy any fish! most of the fish you listed require a larger tank due to the size they will get when they are adults or a tank of their own in general due to aggression! your convicts alone are going to give you trouble if and when they decide to pair and mate! these lil guys are known to take on fish twice their size and kill them! some schooling would look nice and you can get a couple different types and colors! just please research before you buy any fish! in the end it saves you alot of money and headaches! good luck!

hey if your passionate your mistakes will turn into lessons

A.K.A. Your mistake with overcorwding might lead to awesome (larger) tank. From what i saw most your fish are not full grown so you have time.

I think you have passion which is the most inportant thing

I understand how overstocking might be justified in some instances but your case is just dumb. You know nothing about fish and instead of doing some research you just go out and buy whatever you see at the closest walmart, and then you brag about it like it's funny or something lol

None of your fish will survive that tank, hopefully for them.

as with all of these coments larger is always better when it comes to fish tanks. i too have been guilty of overstocking, we probably all have, If you overstock the fish will not live happy lives, its hard to keep up with good water quality as well. if you overstock a little bit and you know in the near future you will have a larger facilty for the fish then you can probably get a way with it. but overstocking is never a good idea. their is an abundance of knowledge on this site, read ,read, and read again, it will be helpful for you. welcome to MFK...

i hear all of you! thanks for the feedback. my fish will eventually be spread out into different tanks.forgot to add in my post that im using a odyssea4 canister on my hex aswell as the hang on. im not much of a goldfish lover, but the black moor's are nice. i've been seeing pbass on here man those are some cool fish. idk i really like all these fish i got to just take them back is not an option i'm gettig more tanks for sure! i have a 65g i'm working on and a pond thats already in the ground. so up the water changes????

Frequent water changes will only be a temporary fix to your situation. It will help but will ultimately not be enough to keep all of these fish together. I hope you have a large pond and will act quickly to move your fish into it.
