getting rid of old gravel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want to change substrate but where do you get rid of 100 lbs of old gravel from a 100 gallon tank Advice?

Save the gravel in an empty plastic garbage container........I leave my tanks bare, without any gravel, cleaner this way..................You never know when you will want that Midas Devil, and then there is no gravel for him to push around..........100 pounds of gravel will fill a 75g perfectly for tankbuster like a red devil/Midas to push around...........

I throw it in my driveway to fill in the potholes.

Sorry to be slightly off topic, but is it better to have gravel or a naked bottom? I'm debating weather or not to donate my gravel as well. Again, sorry if this is off topic.

To be on topic, I would just donate it to someone asking for free stuff for their tanks. I know a lot of schools (my daughters Pre-K) would love the gravel, and even anything to help setup a tank in their classrooms. The kids love it. Just saying!

Hello; I often keep my holding tanks and QT with a bare bottom, but like to have gravel in a display tank.

I am a garbage man for a living all u have yo do is throw your garbage men 20$ and they will take it just put it in bags ( not to heavy) and its gone before you know it

Dumped my natural gravel around bushes in fromt of my house. Have some lime green that I keep in an old 3 gallon metraframe in basement just as rememberance of what I had back in 1968 (my first tank) LOL.
