Rose Queens????

ps red devil/ midas x synspillium does not only produce rose queens... when hybridization occurs you will get many variations in the offspring. the most popular, or desired results from this crossing is BPs and rose queens.
BTW i have not ever heard of anyone calling them RQs.

A friend of mine told me thats wat they were...reason for the post....but wat do you call them?? cuz calling them red devil crossed with synspilum sounds dumb(even if thats wat they are)

I have that problem too, synspila parrot is what I call my two syn X parrot girls..or just parrot fish.

A flowerhorn is much more complicated than a 2 species cross. At least 4 species were involved, probably more. It also included tons of inbreeding and selective breeding. Red texas and Blood parrots contain some fish that may have been part of the Flowerhorns creation, yet they are not considered flowerhorns. I flowerhorn must have trimac IMO. Every breed of Flowerhorn has some trimac I am 100% sure of it. Even if its only a small fraction of the equation. Some breeds of FH have less Trimac and others have more. Im no expert on flowerhorns by far but I cam tell you it is not a flowerhorn.

Disagree - not all flowerhorn have Trimac in them. And no, to be consider as a flowerhorn does not mean it has to have a trimac(talking about flowerhorn in general - not modern flowerhorn). We can argue with this beyond about the true strain of Kamfa and GM. Or we can just go both ways eliminating the Kamfa and GM out of this and put in the JPG aka Golden Apple.
Anyways, I saw those Red Devil x Vieja at the LFS as well the first day they got them in. They went out quick, didn't want to bother grabbing them if I'm not up for a project with them in use of it. Not necessarily Rose Queen just yet. But it is a step. Cross back into a Midas instead of a Devil this time in another 2 more generation with selective breeding of the offspring with the most Rose Queen trait. And you should be able to create a replica of one. Keep us posted...

Here is one of my PRQ b4 fading. She is fully faded now More of a gold with a purple tint now. She looked just like the little ones in the begining of this thread. Awsome fish Imo

That is funny you brought up a Midas cuz i was at the LFS and I bought this guy for $2 lol is it a midas or red devil tho

Hard to identify at this point...nonetheless, you'll get at least a midevil (midas x devil).

I just got a new FH..I had to take out the midas and put him/her in another tank...thinking may i should give my new FH a tank instead but I already have a 8 inch ZZ in a corner tank wat do i do???

heres what I did I went and found a used tank 30 gal I bought for 10 bucks and grabed a old hang on the back filter,old heater, powerhead and bubbler. then threw him in there with sponge bob....lol

Oh wow. I feel dumb now. lol. But we can agree that RQ are not Fh right?
Aren't BPs, KKPs, etc. all just deformed versions of RQ? Or am I way off?
