I agree that the roselines are probably getting ready to spawn.

my group of 4 is a little older than yours but they still have the yellow on the fins but the fins are not elongated. they can be seen in this full tank shot of my 65g:

probably the change to RO water has caused this change.

often times it mimicks the 'wet season' in wild fish and can a trigger this change.

JC, why did you have 25mm return piping on the sump pumps? Does this offer better flow than the 16mm?

I am basically halving your sump so just using one pupm - an Eheim 1262

Wow, so jealous. I attempted to keep wild discus once, but unfortunately I purchased them from the wrong person and they ended up dying within a month. Maybe one day I will try again, they are gorgeous fish for sure.

okay so say I got 6 smaller fish, what else would go well with them? something with a bit of colour and liveliness

Pretty much anything they can't eat, and anything that isn't too aggressive and will harass them.

Great look tank, love the plants. Yeah still haven't been able to find any solid info on what happened with mine. We shall see!

I am basically halving your sump so just using one pupm - an Eheim 1262

I'm assuming your 16mm would translate into 3/4" piping? These Quiet One pumps come plumbed with 1" (or 25mm) threaded fittings. So I just kept the same size pipe for the returns. I don't think going down to 3/4" would have affected anything. I usually like to stick with the same size plumbing that the pump's inlet/outlet are.

Well, given that I've lost several discus I'd say yes, they are harder to keep than your average cichlid. Not difficult, but definitely more delicate.

No, I never have. Seems like it would be quite challenging to calculate the actual flow rates.

Fine so far. One of my discus HATES the geos though. Chases them around every chance he gets!
