so anyways I have a 500g setup thats looking kinda bare. Right now the only fish are 4 gar, 1 african pike, and 1 henlei stingray. Im thinking of adding more fish, but not too sure what want. the only fish that HAVE to stay are one of my gar and my ray. none of the fish are agressive at all and the only time ive seen any fighting is when the smallest gar grabs a whole shrimp, my pike always has to steal it.

Im not sure if i want to add one big cichlid, or if he would be too much of a bully. I want something colorful and active, and really enjoy how aware some fish are. my ray comes and begs for food whenever im near the tank and she comes to the surface to be pet. any ideas or suggestions? i was thinking possibly a wild caught oscar? maybe a jag cichlid? black aro? growout some dats? i have no idea what i want but they cant be like all silver and have to be decent size so they arent mistaked for a snack.

Maybe some oddballs such as..
Mormyrids ( cornish jack, eastern bottle nose mormyrid )
more rays
datnoid
Catfish
Sterlet
eels ( fire, long fin, short fin, albino indian )
clown knife
Pbass
etc

i like the idea of a big CK, but have had a hard time finding any of decent size. bass have been nothing but headaches with me since one will eat this and not that and this one is prone to disease and this one is mean and they havent ever worked for me. do you think a big cat will upset my ray? I miss my RTCxTSN. what about mahseer? ive seen some that are cool, but a lot just look like common shiners but bigger. someone should sell me a couple big datnoids like 18" for the price of babies!

and ive seen what my tank looks like with 1000 small fish in it. they just get sucked into HAMMERHEAD and blown back out at 10000000MPH

I like the thought of a WC oscar. IMO chances are it would be fine it that size tank with your stock. What about a A. robertsoni, Bocourti or Synspilus.....all these would add some color and a mid level swimmer. Good chance they would not cause to much of a problem.

idk i like fish that are complete monsters, but arent if ya know what i mean. like my gars could wreck something, but they choose not to. i fell like my stingray could eat anything in the tank or definately kill it, but she would rather just be pet. the bocourti is the only one i am fimiliar with but it just looks like a weak fish(i know thats a dumb reason) kinda like why i didnt like my GF's parrot even though it ran my 500g for a while.
