Ok, I'll bite. I'll just list ones I've kept, and I would most likely buy if I saw them at a local fish store. Location was not specified, so I'll start with this :
1. 5 Spot Jewel Cichlid - Either Hemichromis elongatus or frempongi, I've had both, no need to waste a top 5 spot with both species, they are similar enough. A frempongi is in my avatar. They are so bad ass, and don't get huge. You don't need a 600 gallon aquarium for them. But I would love to see a 600 with some in it. One of my favorite aquariums I've seen was at a local fish store in the early 1990s here in Dayton. It was a 180 with about 6 Mayans, and six Hemichromis elongatus. All the fish were between 6-8 inches. But there was not much aggression, all the fish were just so chill. But you just knew what they were capable of, it was such a cool tank, I always watched that aquarium as long as I could. I hope to replicate it some day.
Here is a pair of my fremponi from the past.
Here is a great video to show the difference between Hemichromis elongatus and Hemichromis frempongi. The elongatus are the very first fish you'll see, and the frempongis are the ones with red on there stomachs. This is not my fish or video, don't know who's fish they are. But you can see, they are just so chilled out despite their extremely violent reputation. I love this, I am so jealous of this aquarium.

to be continued.....in progress...................
2. Caquetaia spectabilis - This is another cichlid that like the 5 Spot Hemichromis, doesn't need to be in breeding dress to show great colors. They are always on display. And they are pure cichlids; they can be somewhat aggressive, have big teeth (for cichlids), can get big and thick, almost oscar size, but not too huge. They will eat feeders if that's your thing. They are like mini umbees, not as big or aggressive, but just right for people that want aan umbee but don't have the space.
