FISHING SEASON 2K11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Had nothing better to do so I headed to the beach around 10:45.

Surf looked perfect for pompano, stirred up good but not muddy. Headed out with two rods and fresh dead shrimp.

Action was slow at first. First fish was the over slot red (looks small in the picture but that is an 11.5 boot) fish was hungry and had both circle hooks in each corner of his mouth, he wasnt getting away! Some guy comes down and tries to convince me to give the fish to him. Not too long later I thought I had a real monster of a pomp on but turns out to be a 5lb blue fish. I let him go.

About an hour later I got the first pomp of the day and man look at the green on it!! Have yall ever seen anything like that?! Shortly followed by that I landed a nice slot red with a total of 17 spots. Cool! Fish was released.

The action absolutely died. Nothing for the next couple of hours. Right at dark I got pomp #2 and the second, this time upper, slot red. Both joined pomp #1 to JD7.62's place for dinner.

All in all a nice relaxing warm day, only brief period of clouds but mostly warm sun, even got a little late season tan. Action wasnt the best but brought some fish home and caught two crazy looking fish!

Totals:
1 - Blue Fish
3 - Red Fish
2 - Pompano

nice reds and pomps!

with other fishing winding down i catfished for about 2 hours the past 2 nights, 3 baby channels and 4 small bullheads so far, biggest channel bout a lb haha but its fun. today i learned my lesson, i usually bring a bass rod to toss around while i catfish, i didnt today and i watched as a pair of 4-5lb bass chased a school of shad around the dock... i was about to rage hard lol, by the time finals are over next tuesday it will probably be too cold to catch a ton but having fun now :)

dreams i'd go ahead and oil and lube em up, just did mine last week and the difference is very noticeable. once the fish stop biting and you have one of those lazy days where its crap weather out and you're just sittin around the house, get out the stuff and clean em up don't be lazy :P

I cleaned all my stuff and oiled it, but did not disassemble them all since they are all pretty new. Next year, I think I will probably take them down to a service store and have them cleaned and greased. My rods look good as new again, but my reels do have a bit of bank burn :(

Nice catch JD7.62 Lovely place to fish, like the portion with the rod stand. How does the stand sit with the tide coming in everynow & then? Always excited when the tide hushes in, for me they seems to cajoling the fishes inshore. Thanks for sharing
