The member, Cckota is now totally out of the MFK system. IP blocked or member blocked who knows only the mods and admins know. It must be pretty bad on what he did for that to happen. A little research and common sense can go a long way on who to not buy from.

I think that was due to him re-registering under a new user name to attempt to get around a prior ban; I'm not sure if the ban was due to being a scammer or not because no one has indicated why he was originally banned.

A moderator traced Cckota's IP address to California. Cckota listed profile was that he was selling out of upstate New York. Either the moderator is lying or Cckota is lying. Either way, computer and paper trails never lie in my opinion. Yea, I did my research and this is what I saw taking place.

I give props to the people who wanted to protect the MFK community from possible scams.

Well let's not make it seem like those who didn't quite see the "scammer facts" like they do not try to look out for one another. I'm not even going to get into the details I'll leave it at if he was phony then he was good, not enough details but enough to cause confusion.
Hopefully a mod can clear this up.

I will say, this stuff getting out of hand makes me want to go in stealth mode n log out for a good long break

Interesting. I have faith in the moderators, so I'll take their word for it; they have no reason to ban people without a valid reason such as that.

Ya, I think the recent influx of scammers really made things a bit interesting because a lot of people had their guard up from being scammed by people who otherwise appeared and acted trustworthy. Sure, using one's head can typically prevent one from falling prey to a scammer, but that always doesn't work in the case of the really crafty scammers. Some sort of requirements for the Marketplace would be nice to prevent future occurrences of this nature, but that would also probably cause some newer members with good intentions to lose out on some good deals or for them to be unable to rehome their fishes if need; seems like it's a double-edged sword of sorts.

Yeah, sucks... One bad apple messes it up for everyone

Yup. It's too bad that some people make the decision to try to rip off others and then end up making everyone else lose out as a result; it's even worse when legitimate sellers take a hit because of the scammers' behavior.

cckota, it was his thread that peterp63 posted BS assuming he was part, with or the scammer you posted about.

People's laziness to do any research and just jump on the witch hunt bandwagon has made for a very long painful weekend for this new member cckota

You can PM me your apology :)
