Hey Bear is looking really good, whats his age & weight? Just curious in the Uk. do you have to worry about heart worms in dogs over there.

I have a couple of English Mastiffs for now , but been looking at this breed in the future.

thanks

Awesome!

cheers guys! yeah he is packing on the pounds.... what can i say.... go big or go home! ;)

26kg I think is around 57 pounds right? Sounds about right for this large breed, but I would keep him a little lean while he is delveloping his joints. I remember seeing my male growing in spurts from one week to the next, simply amazing how fast they can grow.

erm, i saw you talking about diet. my dogs have been all raw, Prey Model Raw (it's not like it sounds), for 10 years. i can give you info on the diet and get you on some forums and lists for your info. and a few websites with VERY good info.

awesome pup. i would love to have one, but i don't even think it's an option here in southern California. i have been looking at them and doing some research here and there for years. i may settle on an anatolian though, easier to find in the US and easier to groom. lol.

Anatolians are FAST. Like, really really fast. We had one that we had to get rid of because she started chasing deer - but man she would take off, I couldn't even catch her with the 4-wheeler.

Its nuts how quick he grows my gf put her finger on it earlier "its like he grows 2-3cm a day either up or out.... you dont notice it seeing him every day but 2-3 days go by and you suddenly relise how much he has grown!"- I'm trying to keep him pretty lean. I'm very worried about over feeding and exercising him at this young stage!

Catherine: i would really appreciate any links you have to hand! either here or in the diet thread in the lounge... Ive found so many conflicting things as have Liz and west durring our research its always good to have more sources to read from! Females are not all that hard work from what ive seen and the owners ive talked to, males are a constant learning curve but completely manageable with the right approach... ive had no experience around anatolian's at all but they look very capable dogs in footage ive seen. Certainly from here on out im primarily a mossler boy when it comes to dogs i think... :headbang2

Think in future next will be female CO in not too distant future. then its going to be on to getting a x2 kangal and x2 Mongolian banhar into the uk! http://hotoch-banhar.weebly.com/9/post/2009/11/first-post.html :headbang2 be the first to introduce Banhar over here and breed them and first to breed kangal in uk too... tho there is a huge male K over here with diamond inset in his fangs up for sale for £25,000! ouch!

i would also like to work with at some point in my life: central asian ovcharka and presa canario too. :hearts:

Oh and i nearlly forgot: as far as co's and grooming go, i brush him thru once a day for like 5min and he is perfect, drops half the hair my lab does maybe less too! :D

erm,

this an international yahoo group for discussing and learning about prey model raw. they have a page on FB too, but the girls that moderate the FB page are kinda funny.

this is Tom Londsdale's site, he is an Australian Vet and he wrote a couple very informational books about raw feeding. the site has changed some, more info to get without buying the books.
