Black tip shark

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
More info is needed.... but I'll toss out a rough guess of don't do it.

Do you have a tank big enough? They don't do well in new tanks, so make sure it's well cycled and has enough filtration on it.

How long have you operated a large life support system? Learning big system dynamics takes awhile by itself, let alone dealing with new system issues and new livestock.

Do you have the ability to pay for upkeep (food, water changes etc...)?

Is this your first try with sharks? Black tip reefs (I assume you mean those since black tips are beyond even most public aquarium's ability to keep going) are not great starter sharks. I'd suggest starting with sharks and rays that are easier to deal with.

This would not be my first shark and I am currently working on getting the area set up to build the tank we do have the ability to afford it we currently have 5 tanks running and we are soon going to be building a 8x7x4 tank we would probably not get the shark until about 6 months after the tank has been up and running we currently have a nurse shark.

Most LFS stores have no business selling sharks like Black Tips. There are very few stores that I even know of that are truly equipped to handle such sharks.
