hahah not many fish theres a post on here somewhere in more depth about the room u can see a few of the fish!
I started last year and said I dont want to add fish till the room is prefect and all the filtering/heating is going well otherwise I would go out and buy fish and more fish and not fix/add required items. along the way there were a few fish I couldn't resist so thats all I really have =P ( and the fish I started out with ).
I heat all the 4fts on the side wall with 3-4 300W jagers once they are heated they hold heat well and winters here dont get to cold so I said stuff insulation lol they rest are heated with jagers too or fluval tronics in each tank but plan on changing that around to sump ran systems end of this year hopefully!
I knew everyone recommended heating the room, but everyone I spoke too at work all said it made no sense else your having triple the tanks I wanted, pretty much they couldn't understand the advantage in heating the room then the heat having to travel into the glass to heat the water vs heating the water and having a 18-22C temp outside the glass. they are all really smart so I just lesson to them xD When I also change the shutter doors to insulated blinds the room is actually insulated pretty much. 3 layers of sun brick old school insulation xD
I think heating the room is just more cost effective, but not if your gonna open those doors. The tank heaters use alot of elec,
I live in ny and it gets really cold in the winter my friend uses the room heating method at his hatchery but it may not matter unless you have a certain # of gallons...he gas 100s of tanks and two ponds. In the summer he doesnt heat the room he runs his water thru a few hundred feet of coiled flat black hose that is outside in the sun.
