They seem to be less common over here in the uk but i still wince when i see them in shops! Really the shop owners are the only ones who can help...

as bad as they are. there not the worst. i had recently shared a thread with a youtube attachment. the video was entitled "Red Tail Catfish Watches TV". this man had kept a rtc in a 75 gallon tank. the fish was 4 years old and 3 feet in length. the fish could literally not turn around in the aquarium. surprisingly however the tank was clean and the fish didn't have any gill curl or anything like that. the fish was stuck in a position that just so happened to face the TV. Also this "man" said he was getting a 200 gallon tank which IMO is only a 1/3 of the absolute minimal size. but you can't put any 3' fish in a tank that is 4' x 18" x 21". i would tell you to look it up but the guy toke abuse when i uploaded it to MFK and he delete the video.

Im not talking literally, you guys really have that much time to trool??! Wow. Im gonna use my time and money to make sure these guys make it too my friends pond and actually be a contributing citizen, not sit on my cpu and stab ppl for having different opinions!!! Get a life!
I talked to the guy and he didnt even know ur suppossed to change water, i can only imagine his nitrate ppm

Yeah,I bet the tubes for the water test kits would like brown crayons.....yikes!.F1 good for you attempting to save these,well behaved fish.
My point is based on your description I expected to see a bunch of fish on fire swimming in raw sewage in a tank made out of used needles. Instead I saw healthy fish That had out grown their current housing arrangements, in a mostly clean tank. Do they need a bigger tank? Yes. Is it the way I keep my fish? No! Does it render me speechless or is it the dirtiest tank I've ever seen on CL? Not even close
Well thats your opinion, just frustrating when im leaving work early to drive an hour and get these guys then drive almost two hours to drop em off at my buddies and ur sitting here being negative!!

Anyways im gonna do a nitrate test on his water when i get there so ill post the results.
Btw thats 50+ inches of fish in that tank

well, that's within the 1" per gallon rule right?
And don't take it to heart F1, I think everybody is glad you're saving these guys. It's just that when you say it's the worst/dirtiest tank you've seen, that's a pretty high bar to reach.
