it's a shame you guys judge so quickly... I have 160 gallons worth of filtration..... on the 20 gallon tank..... it's a 4 inch stingray for christ sake..... but honestly who cares what you guys say.... no matter what anybody posts..... there is always some body giving him hell about something so they can feel better about themselves... I separated the stingray from the other stingray so she wouldn't have to fight for food.... I don't have to put portions of food in the tank... I can tell if and how much she's eating by the size of her poop
you guys really need to stop giving me a hard time about it.... the only thing that I have done wrong is buy a.unhealthy stingray.. it's funny that I asked for help on this forum.... and it took a guy from a local fish store to give me the right medication that I needed for my stingray.... you guys don't know half as much as you think you do. now please quit giving me a hard time about this...

Zoodiver....
I didn't see your post... my vent wasn't towards you... but as you can see I have plenty of filtration on my 20 gallon tank.. both of my filters have been filtering for over 3 months with the added seachem bacteria additive... so I know my filtration is fine.... thank you for your concern.. and again my vent wasn't towards you

Just what I was waiting for so I could jump on the bandwagon! LOL. Just another person not setup properly to care for stingrays. The main tank is too small and definitely the quarantine tank is too small.

+1. Should have treated in the main tank as it will not harm anything else in the tank and prazi comes concentrated so you can treat big aquariums. Moving the ray around just stresses it more and a cramped tank does it no good either, especially if it is a new setup(not cycled properly)....water quality, etc. Feed something like earthworms that can stay on the bottom so they don't sucked up in the filter like blood worms. I would try to spot feed it and that way you will know how much it's eating.

this is what I hear in my mind when I read your posts...
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
how many times do I have to tell you to stay out of my threads...
your opinion is that wanted and it sure as hell isn't needed. go away my friend go away...

I feel sorry for your rays. You don't know what is wrong with you motoro, so you just want to go ahead and start medicating. You didn't even have the common sense to buy a healthy one!! Well guess what...Clean water, better filters and a little common sense goes a long way. Then you wouldn't have to ask so many questions! I guess I will just sit back and wait for the RIP threads. If you can't take good info or opinions then don't post threads! This is a public forum so get use to it!!!!

Ok, two things.

First - Keep this friendly and on track. These personal attacks won't be tolerated at all.

Second - I'm going to be 100% frank on this one: "160 gallons of filtration" doesn't mean crap right now. It's not replicating 160 gallons of water. You could have a 9 cubic foot sandfilter on there and it wouldn't be any better. There will only be an aerobic bacteria colony size that will be supported by the ammonia in the waste produced by the ray in the tank. Adding bacteria won't help if it has nothing to feed on. In fact, it's probably hurting you unless you have ammonia issues. We were commenting on the total volume of water and the stress by being in the small tank. That added stress level is having a negative impact on the ability of the ray to heal. Combine that stress with the changes going on due to the Prazi, the lower disolved oxygen level etc... and you have many stressful issues hitting an already sick ray all at once. Please take this at face value. I've raised close to 1,400 captive born ray pups over the years. I've delt with almost every type of parasite and bacteria, most of the meds used to treat elasmobranches and tried all sorts of holding tanks. I'm just trying to help you avoid things that are proven mistakes. And we know they are b/c we've made them. It's not trying to belittle you by any means, we're trying to help you avoid screw ups we have done already.

well im sorry u guys feel this way.... but I assure you she's a lot better shape and a lot less stress then in that tub she was in with 12 other stingrays ...but fine... I'm not arguing with you guys anymore. if you guys don't like then that's on you..... I'm done.
