I've been a member of various local and national fish clubs for the past 25 years or so and can't even begin to list all of that I've learned and experienced as part of being a member.
From getting to hear presentations from world authorities on fish (the guys who write the books!) to buying super cool fish for pennies on the dollar to winning free tank set-ups in raffles (Thanks Li / MFK)...to just meeting and hanging out with people in my area with similar interests, I can't imagine being "into" fish and not being in a fish club.
Most clubs cost next to nothing to join (my home club, CCA - www.capitalcichlids.org - is $20 per year, which includes meetings / events nearly every month...with a speaker, food, raffle, etc...basically for the cost of a cup of coffee per month) and most towns are metro areas have a club. Our club has ~200 members of all ages, races and levels of experience.
I'm interested why more MFK-ers aren't in fish clubs. Or maybe they are and just don't say it.
Are you in a fish club? Which one(s)?
If not, why? Thought of starting one?
Thanks,
Matt
