Awesome !!! Mr T looks happy .

Thanks, he sure is. Picky with his food though, brought the wrong pellets, refuses to eat them.
Getting another bag now. Gives me chance to look for plants for the bog and a second pump also...

Quite some rain yesterday, pond filling up nicely for Saturday's overflow drain-holes I want to finish.
Cheers,
Luc

Nice question for you guys...

Would carp go well with Mr. T?

Can pick up 25cm Asian Carp for about 6 USD p/fish...they are big enough to go straight into the pond without becoming a snack for Mr. T.

Picked up the second air pump, 6 plants, 4 of them growing high, 2 mediums. For starters that will fill most of the back wall. Bag of food, correct one this time.
Afternoon fill in the first bit of the bog. Some pictures later...

Just for the record, I've put in 2 Umbrella-Palms and some reed type of plant, 1 Thalia and 2 low-growing plants with white flowers...pictures later for ID's.

For sure, the umbrella and reed are very agressive growers, which is what I need for now to get filtering fast and big.
Of course, this might need changes in the future, but for the next couple of months, they will take up massive amounts of dirt.

After that, we'll see, cut back or take out..it's just the take-up of organic matter and fish-waste that's important for now.
There's still plenty of other plants that will go in soon, lotus and other floating leaf plants, but that's after finishing the bog and its sidings.
After coming Saturday, that's for sure...

Right now, only hope, wait and see how it will clear the water in the coming weeks.

Had Mr. T. going after a fish just now...wow, that's some water-displacement.
Saw a very fast breathing Tilapia after that on one side of the pond...wonder if Mr. T. got lucky on another one...we'll see...

Cheers,
Luc

Wow, a nice day this was...We've finished pretty much the first side of the pond.
Lots of digging, stones and cleanup, but we're starting to see the end-result of many hot Saturdays of work. My neck is burning like fire again from the sun, but I really really like the result of today's work.

Pictures...I've used the same stones in the bog and outside of it. Basically dug out the supporting sand-wall around it and put steps in. Dug out the steps a bit to form kind of a french drain. Then pulled the excess liner from the bog down, filled up the stairs with stones and filled up the complete area around it.

Plants on the steps, still more to come, but you get the idea pretty much of how it will look.

Oh, the hinged door for the settling tank has been removed. I decided to fill it with water-hyacinth for extra filtration. And it's easier for access to the pump. No use to close/open it every time.
There's a T with 2 valves after the pump so I can clean out rubbish from the drain-pipe in the bog.

Will take some time to start seeing the effects on water. Very curious if and when the bogs will start starving the algae. With the UV shade above the pond, I think it has kept algae under control pretty good, but with the water hyacinth and bog plants, I really hope to get the same results I have at home, which really is crystal clear water.
Already got that itchy feeling to start with bog 2...lol. Now that I know the dril for it, i hopefully can get that one done faster. After that, the pond will get final work done and I can get started with adding fish.

I love your build keep it all coming.
