I don't hate cichlids I study them and enjoy them (except Jack Dempsey). You might have received an oddball fish but there is absolutely no Jack Dempsey in Red Texas and certainly not Chris's. Jack Dempsey is not used in any high profile hybrid, they have too many bad traits. The Red Texas you got just had a lot of pearling on the face, doesn't mean anything other than it has a lot of pearling on the face. Its merely a coincidence that it was a female. And as far as the red on the dorsal, many cichlids have this trait including Carpintis. Hell my Vieja Argentea has red on the dorsal so that must mean it has Jack Dempsey in it too. Thats like saying a fish has Convict in it because it shows black barring sometimes.

Notice the red on the dorsal on this Carpintis

One the line on the texas is not what I describing its a much thicker line. Also the beard is not a pattern throughout. The pictures dont prove anything and arent even related to this subject but are somewhat pretty.
I suggest if you try to disprove someone you find better pictures and that are relevant to the subject. The beard one the fish even help me determine the sex.

Sorry I forgot you were an expert on Red Texas, yet you ask so many questions about them. My Argentea has Jack Dempsey in it too but I don't want to argue about it.

I withdraw my last statement wigth a correction This is not a pretty picture. Also if your such a expert on red texas then why you still ask questions on the forum as well. If you were such a red texas expert you would be selling nice red texas like cj barth.

What bad traits come from jd? They cant be as bad as parrot and flowerhorns. Beak face, disease ridden. Bad immune systems etc..... Im not new to fish I was trying to find out secrets about red texas but I didnt recieve any information. I will breed my own.

Never claimed to be an expert on anything but I'm not ignorant to the subject. For the record I haven't asked any questions about hybrid fish in quiet awhile. Red Texas aren't my fish, Parrots are. The red is gonna vary based on so many factors: genetics, surroundings, food, mood. Why not post your magic Dempsey Red Texas and prove your point? How does posting random pics of Dempseys prove your point?

This fish also has Dempsey in it because it has red on the dorsal.

Chris, I don't think the red line on the dorsal fin indicates it has JD blood. One of my old ZZ's had it, and so did my some of my old RT. T. Meeki's(Firemouths) have it as well. And some species of Vieja's have it too.

JD and Midas is NOT what is used to make Blood Parrots. Sorry, but Chris will school you in that area.
