Got these convicts as a pair of blue convicts . I got them and a rtc that will be in my indoor pond till I build a tank large enough to keep it for life. I also got 2 small ponds one is a 8'x18" circle pond and a 10'x3'x2' rectangle pond . Anyways heres a pic of my new convicts.

The first pic is a male and the second is the female.

Could they be artificially died like jellybean parrot cichlids?

I thought that too but I know they arent they had em in the display tank for a good year. Also these fish never lost their color are are very healthy

Look at the fish in my avatar. thats a male Honduran redpoint. you have juvenile HRP's.
they arent actualyl convicts in the slightest they are just in the same family.

true HRP's have a different face structure entirely. my ones tend to have very steep tall faces that are kind of flat. convicts will have a longish snout.

Those look nothing like the HRPs I've seen. I don't think anyone on here actually knows a true HRP, including me. There are so many posts on here talking about HRPs but no ones fish ever looks the same

Thats why when I got mine I did some digging and found that they have a different face structure. if they have faces like convicts then they most likely are a hybrid, if they have faces that are for example like my pair above, they are true HRP's.

even the fry that I took to the Lfs even at 1" they have short tall faces. this is a trait that is not found in convicts.
