BIGGEST cold freshwater fish for ponds

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am currently digging my 4000+ first pond. I have several large indoor tanks but this is my first outdoor pond. 12'x16'x3' , I am planning on using a skimmer and an additional pump to get debris off of the bottom, pool suction filter, and will use a waterfall as the return. I never thought about a sturgeon but have had a couple in my 300 gallon tank before but temps were too high, can it survive in Delaware. I will post pictures as the build continues, do koi and sturgeon get along in a closed environment?

Sturgeon, northern pike, non migratory salmon, bass, albino catfish and maybe a full grown pacu.

I've heard stories of full grown rtc and pacu surviving winters. You can get pacus at full size for next to nothing worth a try IMO

Did u read the op? He wants a large centerpeice fish to keep in a pond full of koi. Lots of choices will eventually snack on his koi.

Yeah I did read it. It just said he kept koi. Not that the fish he is looking for will be with the koi. He said he wants a large fish that can live in temps from 10-30 degrees celsius.
