If you plugged it into the wall outlet and not one of these http://www.howsmypower.com/images/surgeprotector.JPG then there is a very good chance you fried it.

even if I did fry it, what do i need to replace?

I have to quickly 'lol' at this, if you don't know what a surge protector is or what any of the components are that go into your xbox, you aren't capable of fixing it yourself.

I agree, your just going to spend money on parts that most likely won't fix it. Just buy a new console, or start saving, or wait for christmas

With out the "the power brick" the whole system will not work. The simplest way to check if there is power going through the brick is to use a multimeter to check current. Or ask a friend to borrow a power brick and see if that is really the problem. If it still isn't working, then the eternals are jacked up.
