Baby TSN question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You know what I am really pissed off. the fish is dead.

Have had it for a total of 6 hours. no wounds, no nothing just dead with its mouth stretched open. I thought it looked and acted a bit weird. hopefully I can get my money back. not too sure if i would want to swap for another one. whats the chance of this happening again?

IV owned 3 shovel nose hybrids and never had a problem with them dying my current one was raised from a 2 incher!

seems to be very tame though lets me pick him up and he just sits in my hand

I was going to say this does not sound good. I have only raised one from a small size (currently at @ 24" and in my heated pond), but I dont remember him being docile like that. Sounds like you bought him already with a problem. Maybe the lfs will replace him, they should have at least a few days guarantee.

Anyway, sorry to hear.

I didn't stress him out because he was like that even in the bag. very stiff and floaty. I just assumed it was because he was so tiny and frail.
the store has a replacement policy so I can either get store credit or swap for another TSN.

Would you reccomend going for another? is it unlikely to have the same problem and is there any pointers you can give me to choosing one that will be good and healthy? I picked this guy cause he had nice long whiskers. All of the ones in the tank were kind of just sitting in plastic plants not doing much

I'd try again. I love mine. I didn't Even pick mine. When I got mine he was best up and skinny. And a week later he got beat up by a Bullhead (lost his tail to the bone) about 3 weeks it was all better. Now he's one of my favorites. I'd find the nicest healthy looking one

Have the lfs feed a little bit to the TSN tank to see if they are eating; if not, there is something wrong with the whole batch. Good luck on the second try.

So if they aren't feeding in the store than just use the credit for another fish?
any other pointers for picking out a healthy one? they all looked pretty lazy to me.

It does not matter much in this discussion but your fish are RTCxTSN hybrids. The fish in question is a TSN. It sounds you know that though... just wanted to mention your experience with small baby cats.
