I tend to disagree any dog at any moment can snap for no obvious reason it's part of natural instinct and yes they might show signs but not always

I have a hard time believing this statistic because half of the pit bull attacks that are reported in my area don't show a picture of the dog, and half of the reports that do show pictures the dogs are not pitbulls, but usually some type of lab. Because of the inaccuracy in the reports that are easily checked, I don't trust the reports that they don't provide any verification of.
Every time I have been attacked or threatened by a dog it was by a yellow lab that is normally tied up in the yard that broke its rope. I would trust a well trained and taken care of Pitbull over a tied up neglected dog of any breed.
Dogs do not snap for no reason. Instincts have nothing to do with it. Dogs like any other intelligent animal communicate through body language. Whether we can see it or not is a different story. There's a few researchers who can even study wolves, hyenas and bears very very closely because they can pick up on their subtle signs.
Dogs are not mindless creatures. There's always a reason behind their actions.

I don't see why people have to have pitbulls in the first place, especially around a small child. One accident and it's all over...I got rid of my min-pin when my son was a baby and won't allow another dog in my house until I feel like he can protect himself, should something happen.
