My Red Devil killed my smaller Tiger Oscar :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not arguing. keeping the op needs at forefront because he/she already lost fish by taking bad advice from lfs.

honestly i wouldn't keep a rd in a 55 even as a wet pet unless it was a grow out. i agree, it was terrible advice from the lfs.

but i still think red devils can make community fish with the right tank and tank mates :P

^ not all have same experiences as you do.

Sure, in a 300 it can be housed with other aggressive cichlids...600 is even better. After all, it does live with other fish in ponds and lakes.

not sure why you are arguing with me over something so silly but it's all good :).

i'm sharing my experience with red devils to other people who posted their opinions here, nothing more. for the record i had the same red devil in my 150 stock tank with a much smaller grammodes and green terror, he was fine there too so :dunno: i guess i got lucky ;)
What opinions? The other posters shared their EXPERIENCES with the red devils.

The Bigger the aquarium the better the chances of housing aggressive cichlids together. My Red Devil is 14 inches and evil towards others in 125 gallons or less. In my 250 gallon he doesn't seem to care much. Just gives a lazy chase now and then to let them know he is boss. In a 55 gallon you have very little hope for success.

If he had a 75 by himself no problem but community better step up to a 180 or more him being the smallest guy also helps. You might as well bought a red devil firecracker and dropped that in the tank since it was about the same outcome.

just thought you should all know that i've kept a red devil and jag with 3 rbp in a 75 gallon because my lfs said it was okay and that's my expereince so there's hope and if you bash me for sharing my experience....you're just a troll

And I'm sharing mine, I have had success and I know many people who have so it might be rare in your experience but not in mine.

Dude..it's a red devil in a 55gal and it killed an oscar, just like other red devils killing other tankmates which isn't rare occurance......
