thought of that also but i am trying to stay away from hob filters, i dont like to see the gap between the tank and wall and where this tank will be it will be very noticeable... thanks for your idea
Yeah. I'd use the Aquatop primarily for bio and the fx5 for mech due to it having faster gph.
Your original thought of 2 CF500 uv's would be my choice. The FX5 is a space hog. I don't think fx5 is worth the extra money.

Space hog? Fx5 is very efficient for its size and very powerful! I run a fx5 on my 125 Piranha tank, never have to vac!
+ 2 filters = 2 sets of hoses.
Loads of bio!
And look at the surface area on all 6 foam bricks!

If you want bang for your buck. Go for 2 canisters instead of one. Aquatop should be your choice. But it is your choice. If I were to spend real money I would get the Eheim Ultra series maybe a G160.

Strollo, check this out, I removed the dual outputs just for the hose, serious flow lol and Great agitation!
My Piranha love swimming in it, and it keeps the whole 6'x18" footprint clean, I don't even need my circulator
