Great pics Ash... Next time get some of yourself in there, for scale. I actually surfed by that pier (my cousins live in Ft.L)!

Yeah, defly not for first timers... but those guys have probably waited and trained all their Floridian lives for waves like that to come thru... Most East Coast surfers dont get a chance for swell like that locally.

If you're going to die, why not surf the wave that will kill you? I'd rush any wave that hawaii get's. Born and raised like that. NO Fear Mother nature or any man.
 
hopefully i'll be going down in a few weeks. visiting my cousins, did you by chance fish at all?

I thought you were referring to Balin and I was kind of scratching my my head at that lol....Anywho thanks for clearing it all up.I guess that's how I feel when I go snorkeling and see some of the huge fish out there that sometimes scare me.I don't leave the water though,I love the rush.

Nah, us hawaiian babies are all about liquid surf. We, love and respect the earth, land and seas. I need to take you out free diving one time in Hawaii bro....It will be good times. Catching your own fish, crabs, shrimp, lobsters and cooking them on a beach.....*sigh*....it's the life bro.
 
As a surfer , we live for days like that. I love hurricane swells !! Only we don't have low piers like that to jump off of. We hafta paddle straight into the teeth of it all and work to get out. Great pics BTW. Made my palms sweat a little in excitement !!
