new house, new fishroom, 4,000 gallon tank, 1,000 gallon tank, many others and ponds,

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
alright first we finished hooking up the new filter to the 2" pvc lines, the new filter is a sta rite system 3 pool cartridge filter, i hooked it up inline after the 10,000 gallon per hour pump and before the ultima 30,000 bead filter, here is a couple of pics

and then we bought a bunch of lava rock for decorating the tank, about 1000 lbs, i handed the rocks up and into the tank, where josh was in the water and placed them all, he did not find this job to be fun :) heres a couple of pics of the lava rock in the tank

the plants are from pat catans, each plant in the tank is made from 4 stems of 6' long artificial plant, they were 3.95 each and i cut them into 4 diferent lengths and drilled a hole in a smaller lava rock, and then used clear silicone to mount the 4 plant cuttings to the rock, after they dried overnight i then placed them in the tank, the plastic plant wants to float and the lava rock wants to sink, in other words, they stay where you put them rather nicely

now that the tank has been setup and running great for a while, i have only backwashed the ultima 30,000 bead filter 1 time, the water is being filtered before it gets to the bead filter, so it does not fill up anymore, it is alot easier than i originally figured. now all i have to do is wait till the sta rite system 3 filter builds up 10 lbs of pressure and then i just rinse the cartridges, so far it is about every month or so, now that the filtration setup is so easy to take care of, i just have to figure out a way to feed my fish for free :)
