Bacon? Really, is this bacon cooked or raw?
Cooked, see below

Does he pick up the hikri and spit it?

Do not fret. I have yet to see a healthy fish starve itself to death.

I do not like the bacon idea in the very least.

Nothing, uninterested, not even an reaction?

Just to clarify the bacon thing as it's getting lots of replies, nothing is a staple, before the dog died, he got the scraps, now the fish get a bit of them as treats, the wife feeds the fish before I can complain, we have other tanks, bare in mind the giant gourami's favorite food is pizza/cheese

Cool, I would stop feeding the bacon as a treat though until you get it back eating it's other foods regularly.

Oh my god! Do you imagine the quantity of fat you putting in your water? Stop that, please. Let your fish be hungry and put them on fish food.

You are, above everything, creating havoc in your set ups with that food....

So we should feed nothing but pellets until he takes them?

Yep. Ig he is oterwise healthy.

Would you eat hamburger id someone was always thowing you nice, juicy tbone? Or a suculent roast beef?

Unless its seafood just stop feeding human foods all together... No bueno my friend... I feed mine silversides and market shrimp... When i see he loses inteest in one i switch to the other... But i also only feed like everyother day... And i have nls that ive been trying to get him on... He takes a few but he knows what else i have in store lol...

i have never starved any fish and they take pellets. my current mono is an exception, but i got it at a large size. no need to starve. if he is monitoring his water and it is clean, all the fat he is adding isnt a problem like you say. if he had bad water quality issues then that could be said. the fact is he doesnt. pellets are not a 100% food, they dont have some nutrition that you can only get hrough other foods. they add great value but i am 100% against pellet only diets. more so with carnivores.

An aro gets a bird once or twice a year, at most.

It is not good to rely on that.

Having said this, mine loved a cube of raw chicken, without any fat. The fat, even those inner fat filaments need to be carved out.
