how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

How about the new "under 21" crowd that TEXTS all the time!!! That kinda erks me...I'm anal about when I finish my plate I want my check immediately...I'm weird. My wife beats me up over it. "always in a hurry!"...but beside that, I do try and give people the benefit of the doubt in most cases and tip well. We should discuss bar etiquette. At the local joints I usually tip a buck a beer (beers aren't more than 2.5-3 bucks) but most of the time when I'm out on the road for work I usually tip UPFRONT, that way there is no issue of shift changes, waiting for drinks, etc. I usually just throw a ten down and tell them to keep it, and if I drink more than 25 bucks worth I'll throw another 5 or 10 on it at the end. I've had that happen a lot...when I go out to eat for work on the road it's just me (I'm in sales) and I'm often the guy eating at the bar, alone. Usually at shift change...bartenders get salty if they don't get tipped before they leave...and I NEVER like a non-icey cold corona ready!

Me and my gf txt. Were 23 and 26. Most of the time its to find out what move is playing.as long as it doest get in the way of ordering then it shouldn't matter. I lay the phone down when the waiter comes. They came to me....the least I could do is look them in the eyes and listen.

We usually get the bill when were finising up. So we never have to wait...just pay when we feel like it.

OH I totally agree...and there are instances for with holding tips but most of the time for me it's a non-issue of service...I think it is relative where you live. I'm from western PA and from fairly small communities. Usually everyone is friendly and helpful...I've been to NYC and had TERRIBLE service for sure. I wasn't attacking your post. Sorry if it came off that way.
no need to apologies bro i like wat people got to say i think that question was for you Just asking. What should a restaraunt do if they get a hair in your food? Its bad enough it happens before you start eating, but after you ate half or 3/4ths of your food. Should you get it for free? lol i think it should be free wat you think

This was discussed here before. I've said my piece in that thread already but I guess I'm a bad tipper. I don't like tipping but I do anyways. Usually 5-10% regardless of how good the service was.

For those who think bad tippers are scumbags, I think bartenders or waiters watering down drinks purposely because they didn't get what they think they deserved are the scumbags.

Anyways, I'm not cheap, I will treat family to $100 dinners and tip $5-$10.

Here's the last thread about tipping

I don't care to tip someone if they have done a good job, but when I get horrid service and they automatically take gratuity out of my bill it pi$$es me off. I don't think it's the businesses place to make you give a waiter/waitress a tip. If I felt like the person took care of me and was friendly and everything I'll give them a fair tip, but, I hate being forced to give a tip at some restaurants though and being treated like dirt the entire time I'm there. Happens quite often too

30% as long ass the service wasn't horrible. If i get bad service, i might tip a couple bucks.

If I do not get my water filled or other stuff happens your going to get a zero. If you do something above the others ill go out of my way to tell you and put extra cash in your hand.

Tell me again why all servers should automatically get a generous tip?

Because, for example, in CT, minimum wage is $8.25. Minimum wage for servers is $5.69. If you don't tip ( like Mr. Pink) you are taking their pay away from them... And they aren't looking to work for free for you.

They aren't working for me in the first place.

And if they aren't looking to work for free they should look to work somewhere else
