One of my 75's is open right now so recently I wanted to keep some goldfish in the tank rather than cichlids for a little change up. The tanks all set and ready to go as its already cycled and the temp is room temperature and all that. So, I know both regular "standard goldfish" and comet goldfish both really get too big for my size aquarium since they can both exceed a foot in length. So im assuming it would be best to stay away from those. I'm also under the impression that Shubunkins get too large for my tank size as well. What about fantail goldfish or black moors? I was thinking maybe 1 regular orange fantail, 1 calico fantail, 1 black moor, and 1 of somethin else. Would 4 fancy goldfish species be too much or is that alright for my tank size? I have two Marineland Emperor 400 power filters & i do weekly 50% water changes on all my tanks every wednesday if that helps answer any questions. Thanks everyone let me know what you think

really? So normal goldfish won't out grow my tank? I'd love to have some big normals or comets and watch them get huge but i don't have a bigger tank to transfer them too and i dont have an outdoor pond

I would be a little nervous about have single tailed goldfish in a 75gal see how big they can get! I do like Ryukin goldfish and Telescope eyed goldfish. I was gonna saying Bubble eyed goldfish but they don't do well against normal eyed goldfish.

Lots of varieties to choose from - orandas, pearl scale, ranchu, ryukin, lionhead, wakin, etc. Just do a google search of fancy goldfish.

A shubunkin is just a calico comet.

I would look for the fancy types, like what joe mentioned above. They still get big, don't underestimate them in the long run - they just don't put inches upon inches on in a year like an oscar would. There's a black moor in a city pond that is 10 inches at least, he looks like a black ball swimming around.

Ryukin goldfish are known for sucking the eyeballs out of the telescopes, so you may want to avoid putting them in a tank together. The ryukin are a bit feistier too. Orandas seem to get bloat easier and swim bladder issues.

If you want to keep them long term in that size tank I'd look at getting no more than 5 but you could get more if they are small and thin them out later. Once really big you might be down to one or two in there, but it will take a long time.

I really like the ranchus as well, it's just so hard to find ones with good body shape. A lot of younger ones sold as ranchus end up being lionheads too.
