BeamsWork LED lights?

I have a tip for yall that have the reef bright LED strip. The optics on these strips pop off VERY easy...just use a knife or thin flat head screw driver and twist. They just pop right off and can go back on. With out the optics naturally its not as bright...but the coverage is 100 times better. Instead of a bright narrow strip right under the light it will fill the tank front to back with light. It might not be bright enough for some of yall but it might cure the spotting issue for some of the others. You can also take the black splash shield off to let more light out. I have not taken the splash shield off but know someone that has (the person that I saw this idea from) so I gather it can be done. I might try it to see if it makes it noticeably brighter. Anyway give it a try...maybe you will like it.

I like the idea of being able to control the intensity of light (to mimic sunrise and sunset). Would it be possible to somehow add a dimmer switch to the freshwater version? Also I'm not sure I am reading the description correctly, can you control whether to turn on just the blue lights (moon light) vs just the white lights vs all the lights.

Also, for a regular sized 125g tank what would you suggest: 2 x 36-48" freshwater version or 2 x 48-52" version. Obviously the 48-52" has more lights, but would 2x36-48" light up well.

Well, I measured the length of the T5HO fixtures I have now and they are 36". For some reason I thought they were 48". Anyway I am thinking that I might only need 2 x 24-36" ones for my regular 125g. How would that compare to T5HO bulbs? I currently have 2 GLO 2x39W fixtures (so 2 bulbs in each fixture). Any suggestions on which size freshwater beamswork to get would be helpful.

Sorry to pull a fizzled thread, but was wondering if anyone has any updates on these lights. Still working well; performance issues? Are they suddenly falling apart? Seems like a decent amount of you guys bought them, but didn't further specify if it was the single or double bright. Just from reading these posts, it would seem like most are getting the single bright version(?). I'm looking for a new light for my 75gal cichlid tank and my new 150gal (72"x24" deep) discus tank. I like my lights a little on the dim side. And I don't want a T5 setup heating up under my canopy on the 150.

Mine work great with no issues...I run a single bright 36" on my 75 and a 36" and 48" on my 220. If you click on my profile here and click on my 75 and 220 video threads you can see them and watch the videos to the end for full tank shots. I just updated them today with new videos.

i ordered 2 x 36" single brights sunday so they should be here soon, then i'll take some pics and see how they compare with my 18" marineland DB LED and 2 18w CFL's. my tank is 4'x2'x16" so they should be plenty of light.
