Northern pike

I know all about how big a pike can grow but that's true of a lot of fish here and the love of monster fish is why we are here to start with, I've had him almost a year and his growth has been far slower than I expected and I think it will be along time until he is too big to deal with, right now his in a 180g which I can easily upgrade if needed and future plans could be a pond or large tank of some kind if it was ever needed,

that is stunning! How long have you had him? They ARE slow growers. What do you feed him? Got a video?

I think I have a video of him chomping some feeders but it didn't turn out very good usually he eats 4 smelt every couple days once in a while he gets feeders or shrimp, I've had him about 10 months I think and he's grown 1-2 inches if even that much, he's in the 17-18" range right now

Very cool! But I'm curious...when they get bigger they need/prefer water in the 50's and 60's, what are your plans to accommodate it then?

From everything I've read I've never seen anything about needing a cooler temp at a bigger size, maybe a larger fish would need a lot more dissolved oxygen which is present in colder water, I seen a chart somewhere about temp and growth rates and warmer temp stunts there growth quite a bit but does no harm till in the 80's I think it was 28c they will stop growing and at 32c they will die within 2 days,
Right now I'm keeping his temp at 72 and he seems fine with no change in behaviour, before I had no heater in the tank and it stayed in the mid 60's for the future if I think he's gonna reach a point where a regular tank won't cut it ill be looking into a pond of some kind perhaps inside of a greenhouse or something

Depends where you go. There are many lakes where you can't keep them off the hook and they are a major pest.
