Stocking my new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dimensions?

72X72X30"

Actually I just started the build this week. I bought 2 used 220's that I started disecting. Uaru Joey has a thread on here making one. Mine is 3/4" glass, so it is EXTRA thick. I had my cranky pants on yesterday when I started this thread, as you can tell. I just get tired of that same thread every week.

Now, GET OFF OF MY LAWN. :irked:

Ive considered doing this with three 55g panels to make a triangle type tank. Not sure the seams will work though on two of the angles that aren't 90*. What are you going to use for the bottom panel, plywood?

I'll search for Uaru joeys thread, I'm sure the grass is greener in his thread anyhow:p

Here is Joey's thread. If it is half as easy as he makes it look, it will be a snap. The tanks are giant industrial display aquariums that came from a McDonalds so they would be strong enough for kids to bang on them. 3/4" sides, 1" eurobrace top and 2" bottom. The tank alone will weigh about 630 lbs. I doubt if I have it running till late this year, several other projects I am also working on. I am making a few changes from what he does, but nothing major.

Thanks, couldn't find him on MFK under UaruJoey, but found him on AC and looked at vids and though :duh: I've seen this before LOL. I've got plans for a 10x4' tank/pond. Though if I could find the right used tanks I may just go 8x6' and model it after his build.

Drilling the plywood floor. One modification I am thinking about, is to drill the center and use overflow boxes to hide the pipes. (I already have boxes from the aquariums) Then it would be kind of like a racetrack setup. The thing that scares me about this is the difficulty of making a plumbing repair if it is ever needed underneath. My stand will be like Joey's, so completely inaccessible.

See post 23

I think with tanks that large, it maybe a good idea to have the plumbing in areas that are accessible JUST incase anything happens along the way or in the future...
