Most effective dither fish

What has been you guys experience with dither fish and what fish was it? Not looking for some just curious on some opinions

I'm my tanks I've always used black skirt tetras. Loosely schooling they spread out into the whole tank. Cheap and usually readily available. But I've never used them for fishing bigger than angels or discus

Tetras for smaller dithers. For big dithers, silver dollars are great.
