Fluval Issues? Your chance to be heard!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I'm with you I realy like the Aqua Clear and the Fluval C noise or not. I sat for months and debated on what filters to buy....it came down to the price difference between the Fluval and the Eheim like many people and the trouble with our wonderful economy. They have been one issue after another, and you almost have to pull me teeth out to get me to deal with there support. First day $2385.00 in water damage from leaks which the lady at Hagen calmly informs me the warranty only covers the impeller motor and informs me to read the fine print as I'm standing in the lake in my living room. Yeah I just dont have the money at the moment to replace them it would be probably $1200.00 with Eheims which is what I'm buying. I live in Rural Montana the nearest Criagslist is 100 miles away and at that not many folks in these parts have Aquariums. So it's kinda like no place to advertise them and no one to sell them to. If you've seen the show Wilderness I live 20 miles from the people on that show. MY Luck......Love it here though has to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and I come from Maine.

All valid reasons

Dang that sucks about the flood.

I only had that happen with a rena xp4
the hidden o rings in the disconnect were damaged.
Even their support staff didnt know about them.
I had to take it apart to find out they're there.
The gasket set doesn't even include them as if they don't exist.

Our Hagen head office in is Quebec and their support staff can't even speak proper English and know zip about their products.

My issues with the fx5 was poor filtration, cheap plastic parts and I had to replace the impeller. $60+ for it the impeller.
Not to mention the lid fasteners after they dry out and crack.
No I didn't crank on them like most assume.
The plastic is really cheap and the lid fasteners are poorly designed.
I was lucky my brother came up with a DIY fix small metal cross dowels.

I had to save up for the eheims while I was studying took me some time to do so.
Money isn't like toilet paper to me lol so I know how expensive they can be.

I used to live in a town of 500 I grew up on a farm in Northern Ontario
Actually the town was around 80km away from our place.
I know exactly what it's like and you're right nothing like living near or in the woods.
I regret moving to this blah city called Toronto but I'm stuck here now.

I run 2 206's and a 306. Happy with all 3. in the past ive run 205's 305's 405's and back when I started out, the 04 series. Always chose them over eheim cus they were cheaper. never disappointed though. I also run a version of the sunsun uv cannister. happy with that also. maybe if I tried eheim id be blown away but ive no complaints with what I have. only problem ive had was a minor flood from a 206. my fault though. took it out of the box, set it up and started it... only to realise I forgot to put the oring in!!!

Yes thats not the filter fault. I had the hose blow clean off the filter because the clamp was bad.

I hate the color of my FX5. Looks way too much like a home depot bucket. Maybe we could get hagen to sell different colors or someone could start making skins for the FX5.

I know you like the FX5 which I respect. You should follow this how about Lime Green and Yellow:headbang2

I have and run two 305s and a 205 mine get bubbles trapped in them fairly easy IMO but nothing a AC50Ph can't get out ;)

I can see where that do the job for sure I have to tip my 406's to get the air out you can hear the motor gets noisy which lets me know it needs to be burped just like a 1 month old but much wetter;)

Really? Lime green and yellow? Your not helping your just being insulting and hurtful.

:ROFL:Yep a Big Bummer.....more like lucky guy:headbang2

If you can properly set this filter up and maintain it, it is one of the best canisters on the market. I'm sorry that you had problems....

Sorry not helping the hate thread. I have 2 fx5 great filters love them both. Just got done cleaning one, it was super super dirty but still kept picking up the crap in the tank, if I ever setup another good size tank and need a canister filter ill buy again. Now my customer service email I sent about a jager heater being broken that's a classic, my heater does not work its always on. Did you adjust the temp turning all the dials, yes I did, still is always on what can you do to help I just purchased it. Then no more communications came to me, thanks to the Amazon seller for being really good and sending a refund.

I like my FX5 although I do have some small issues with it but I can find almost any issue with any filter. I do love my Aquatop filters because they are simple, have baskets and the quick disconnects are IMO one of the best on the market. I believe the marineland C series also use these disconnects. I also really like Eheims and probably would have bought the 2262 if it wasn't twice the price. I am still considering buying one anyways but $400 makes me consider setting up my larger tank and going with a sump.
