the weirdest fish deaths i experienced was when my two pacus were playing and splashing water in my new 250 gal ..the water that spilled caused a short and then a fire under the tank.. the fire on bottom of tank inside the cabinet caused the entire tank to explode......... we tried to save the pacu stuggling through all the glass and smoke but they died after we put them into another pond... they just couldn't recover.. the little african that was with them survived.. and went on to live another 6 yrs.. very sad night in my life losing my favorite fish this way..

I had a large silver dollar. Bigger then a baseball got scare and ran into a quarter size hole in a texas holey rock. Didnt see him for hours so went looking for him found him still alive. Tried for 10min to push him out of a 30pd rock. It was hard. Had to use a chopstick to push him through. Came out all scratch n tore up. Swam for 30min in a crazy pattern and died.

I was doing my weekly WC and eventually noticed that it was taking a lot longer to drain the tank than normal. After checking the sink I realized that there wasn't any water draining even though the vac was submerged. Closer inspection revealed that one of my white labs actually swam up the vac tube and got itself stuck against the hose. By the time I realized what happened there was nothing I could do for it.

Not a fish but one of my baby DBT's got it's head caught in the intake strainer of the tanks hang on filter. It was quite a gruesome sight to come home to.

Some of those stories are crazy. I think the weirdest non fish death I ever experienced was my 4' iguana every morning my dad would let it out the cage to bask in the sun by the sliding porch door in my room. Till one day it just disappeared for few days. I figured it found a warm place to hide and would pop up when it got hungry. Another day went by so I got worried and started looking thru my room and he still didn't turn up. Then I asked my dad if he's seen it n when I stepped in the doorway something caught my eye behind its cage. It was the iguana stuck in between the wall and 6x6 stud the cage sat on. It tried to squeeze itself thru the 2" gap.

It still bothers me to this day I raised that iguana from a hatchling.
