Ok thanks for the advice, went to the lfs today and got some melafix just to help fight infections, he seems a lot more settled today, he has shed a couple of damaged scales, is this a good or bad sign?

It can't regrow good scales with bad in place so it has to shed them.

Just pondering how is it a rescue when you plan to get rid of it once it is healthy? Seems more like a business opportunity that knocked and you answered.

It's a rescue because it was in a tank barley bigger than him and in poor condition as you can see, the reason I can't keep it is because it would kill my jar. I won't just sell it to just anyone who pays, it will be a serious keeper with a big enough aquarium thats looking for a new addition to it. I have never said anything about profiting from it and I will probably be out of pocket after the treatment is finished without the extra effort with maintenance. If that's still how you feel I would rather not have your advice thanks...

No not at all, I appreciate everyone's opinion but I don't appreciate someone saying I am doing it selfishly for profit when I am putting myself out to help stop an animal from suffering. believe me the amount i will have to spend on treatments, extra water changes, feeding etc. I would have to sell it for a lot more than its worth just to get my money back! That's why I was a little annoyed

Don't take advise from me then. I am just pointing out that is is not a rescue for you. It is a helping pit stop for it. Actually if you got it for free, witch I think I remember reading that, you won't have much money in it at all before it can be resold. Maybe $20 in prime, $2 in salt plus food. Resale value of around $150 in good health. View it how you like, but a true rescue is for it to be in a new permanent home. I presently rescued a long nose gar. It was in a 35gal and was not fed properly. It is now in my possetion for the rest of its life and is giving a proper tank and food.

As for the aro you have. Best to have it alone, with covers on its pond. Clean water and the addition of salt wouldn't be a bad thing for it. A lot has been said already.

You may not want to take advise from them either because your annoyed by the truth. I know more then a few people thought it, but I said it. Good luck with that aro's transition to a good home.

Umm, that wasn't advice.. it was a cheap shot, and doesn't belong. \(-_-)/

It wasn't a cheap shot it was just what I saw and I know others thought it. I am bluntly honest. Your comment isn't advice either and it doesn't belong either.

Is the pond just temporary for you? As with the dimensions of the pond that aro could live in there comforably for the rest of his days.
